-         At 16, goes on a tour of Europe with British ambassador’s entourage

-         Elected to Parliament in 1584; reelected a number of times

-         Knighted under James I in 1603; Solicitor General (1607); Attorney General (1613)

-         1621, accused of misconduct and kicked out of Parliament

-         In 1626, while conducting an experiment to determine whether stuffing a chicken with snow would prevent it from spoiling, he contracted a chill that developed into bronchitis, from which he died in 1626
